Amanda Haverstick is the bestselling author of Dear 1L: Notes to Nurture a New Legal Writer (2024), a book that embodies her approach to teaching: practical and deeply encouraging. A 20-year-veteran BigLaw litigator turned legal writing coach, Amanda founded Writing Law Tutors LLC in 2021 to help lawyers and law students write with greater happiness and confidence.

Her workshops and coaching programs—including LinkedIn writing and communication training—blend storytelling with technical precision, teaching lawyers how to write like people while meeting the high standards of the profession. Through her “Dear Legal Writer” lessons and posts, Amanda makes grammar, structure, and clarity both approachable and memorable.

Before launching her consultancy, Amanda spent two decades litigating complex employment matters and counseling employers at Morgan Lewis, Proskauer, and The Hershey Company. She holds a B.A., cum laude, from Harvard University and a J.D., summa cum laude and Order of the Coif, from Boston College Law School, where she served as Executive Editor of the Boston College Law Review.

Amanda lives near Philadelphia with her husband, Matt, a managing partner at Kleinbard Bell, and they have three young-adult daughters (including one budding litigator).
